Three Reversible Impactors are located at the Piney Point Plant, Palmetto, Florida. This plant is part of the Davison Chemical Division of Borden Chemical Co. These machines reduce diammonium phosphate or granular triple superphosphate (GTSP) from a feed of 75 x 3.35mm (3″ x 6 mesh) to an 852-952 minus 3.35mm (6 mesh) product. Capacity is 41 TPH (45 STPH) with 75 KW (100 HP) V-belt drive.

Single Roll Crushers are installed at the White Springs, Florida Plant of Occidental Chemical Co. The materials crushed are triple superphosphate and diammonium phosphate. The feed is 600 x 450 x 150mm (24″ x 18″ x 6″) and product is 37.5mm (1.5″). Capacities are 27-36 TPH (30-40 STPH). The relatively slow speed of 7.3 rad/s (70 RPM) assures long wear of the staggered tooth configuration. The proper tooth configuration assures that product top size will be quite uniform.

A Twin Rotor Impactor is installed at the Nichols, Florida Plant of International Minerals and Chemical Co. This is a machine equipped with two parallel rotor assemblies with opposite rotation so that material must pass in a narrow gap between the respective hammer circles.

Two Non-Clog Hammermills are installed in St. Croix, Virgin Islands at the Harvey Aluminum Plant. These machines are equipped with moving breaker plate feed sections and moving plate rear sections.

There is no basic formula to determine Breaker capacity because of the many variables which must be considered including type of material, feed size, gradation of feed, and desired product size. Breaker size is based principally on a determination of the volume to be screened and the volume to be reduced in size.

An unusual crusher application utilizes a One-Way Hammarmill Installed at Companhia Mineira de Aluminio, San Paulo, Brazil. The feed is 300mm (12″) maximum with a large portion being minus 150mm (6″) . The feed is mine-run bauxite to which is added a caustic sodium aluminate solution to give a moisture level of 20 to 30%.
