In the design of comminution circuits, why is  the capacity of crushing circuit normally twice the capacity of grinding circuit?

Hi,

crushers are simply more efficient than mills at reducing rock size. If you were to calculate the Operating Work Index of any crusher VS that of any grinding mill, you'd get number on the large difference. It is in the mechanical nature of the breakage.
