for small production : is it possible to use a screen without vibration? (8 replies and 4 comments)

in order to make percolation  leaching more effective we need to separate fines from the feed , we need to use a screen for this purpose, but for power and economic reasons we want to make a stable screen (without vibration) , the question now is : is it possible to do that or it will be useless ?

if yes,what are the factors must be taken into consideration in design of this screen and optimum working conditions?

thanks for all

Moisture and rate of undersize are the most important factors.

of course it is possible.

you need more surface area and more vertical angle. And the surface between bed and screen needs to change( fresh). For this you can use a ladder like screen. Every step needs springs and arranable angles.

but for these you need lab test to find the limits for feed particle size distribution changes, moisture changes, enough area, angle changes, spring with feed quantity and step height relations.

but if you are feeding with conveyor you can increase the speed and and feed the nearest particals to the screen. ( to decrease the feed quantity)

Or you can use a helezonik screen but arrangements and maintenance is more difficult.

ladder like step spring screen is better.

Wagee, you'll still need a bit of shake up to ensure effective screening. possibly a low motor rating which will minimize cost or a drum like screen which just rotates. its best to choose a design which will not disturb the smooth operation of your process or frustrate the plant operators.

Use a static sieve bend with polyurethane mesh with high hydrophobicity. Unlike conventional screens which require vibration, the mode of size separation is by water entrainment

What kind of leaching you are talking about and what is the element to be leached?

The screen efficiency depends on capacity, screen aperture size, material characteristics specially moisture content , frequency of vibration etc . Sieve bend static screens also used mostly for slurry feed . Normally for fine screening high frequency screen used. To determine the efficiency , before thinking of static screen,  you may get the material tested in a laboratory with standard moisture  .  Drying the sample may improve efficiency.

For leaching part I want to add that;

leaching efficiency is not only percolation rate. if you only focus percolation you will increase gravity effect to solution and decrease capillary effect and so you will loose leaching efficiency on partical surfaces and inner cracks.

as more as percolation focusing, focuse on stacking homogeneity related with segregation( and channellings related with stacking and dust while stacking).

How much your partical size distribution is homogeneous in the stack volume your leaching efficiency is higher. (The most important think in leaching unsaturated)

And lastly 🙂

while leaching effects;

gypsium ( may be in your leaching)

etc. etc. :))

EVERY LEACHING HAS OWN PARAMETERS
