What do you think is necessary to conduct tests CIP / CIL process ? What information would be most useful for the results of laboratory experiments? As in the laboratory to simulate a continuous process of CIP?

It is important to perform leaching tests to make sure the gold dissolution is acceptable (e.g. 90%-95%). The testing program should provide the following information,

  • Maximum gold extraction
  • Optimum residence time
  • Estimated cyanide and lime consumptions
  • Effect of particle size on gold extraction
  • The presence of cyanicides
  • Effect of activator on gold dissolution rate
  • Effect of oxygen on gold dissolution rate

if the results from the cyanidation tests are good, it is important to perform adsorption tests on activated carbon. In this way, it is possible to select an appropriate activated carbon. Results from the lab should provide information on the loading capacity, effect of particle size, and contaminants adsorbed by the carbon.

It is important to evaluate samples of different gold grades and mineralogical characteristics. The plant should be designed to treat different ore types. In this way, the gold extraction will not be affected.

Basically, the election of a CIP or CIL process is influenced by the mineralogical characteristics of the ore and economic considerations.
