We designed a plant for grinding rejected pellets with a ball mill and two hydrocyclone stages. The underflow of the secondary hydrocyclone with a solidity of 55-60% and D80= 70-90 microns enters the tank mixer and is dewatered with a filter drum. O...

Most likely cause is high fines, with a lot of pellet binder creating a dense bed blocking the flow of water.   Drum filters may not be the best choice.  Pressure filters or even centrifuges may wo...

At the local copper & molybdenum mine, their recycled process water (decanted in a tailings impoundment) does not contain more than traces of nitrates.  Their primary blasting agent is ANFO, so one would expect nitrates to be present in the ore.  T...

Hi everyone,   I am looking for a way of determining the amount of solids settled in a thickener by using inputs of the bed pressure (bed mass) and underflow density, and the thickener measurements (diameter, depth). Anyone who knows how to do it?

Factory calibration is normally done on water and a standard pipe diameter. This will NOT mean it is calibrated for your operating conditions. You need to verify that it is set for your application ...

We have a problem with the Tailings thickener. It does not settle solids and the overflow has no clarity. The feed rate is 90m^3/h at the density of 1.12.The flocculant has been changed more than 3 times. It is dosed at full speed but there's no chang...

You did not mention the size of your thickener, this can play a big part in acchieving settling.  Next, pH is also a key point and matching it to your flocculant.  Then dosage rate and interaction w...

Is it possible to change the location of air blowing section of vacuum disc filter (bag filter)?
Last replied to by Mike
The simple answer is, yes, but why?  The air blow is normally/usually at the discharge point to help remove material from the cloth.  Why would you want it some where else?

Hi   Does anyone have recommendations on the dissolved oxygen for the SO2/air process.   I could reach to 5-7 g/g SO2 to CN ratio and 8-10 pH ranges with 50 ppm of Cu but almost no recommendation is there in the literature regarding DO.
J
Last replied to by Jorge
Regarding the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) in the reactors, it is important to maintain a low content, that usually should range from 2 to 5 mg/L. The equipment to determine the DO should be calibrated const...

Do any body have data related to Rise rate to be consider for the sedimentation of slurry inside the High Rate Thickener. I want this for calculating the size of thickener in case of High rate thickener for iron ore concentrate and tailings.
