I've activated bentonite with HCl. due to the activation the SiO2 has increased and Al2O3 decreased, i don't have the reason why the SiO2 has increased and Al2O3 decreased. Do anyone know the exact reason why this change happening?

Al2O3 is partially leached. If you perform the activation using different levels of HCl, the leaching will increased gradually with increasing HCl concentration. In this way, the relative SiO2 content will increase with increasing acid concentration, while that of all the other cations will decrease
