Assuming a new technology allowed economical and rapid 1 micron grinding - What material would you grind to achieve high recovery rates and take advantage of a lower processing cost of fine material?

Asking the same question in a different way - What material has potentially excellent economics that have not been realized due to lack of cost effective technology to grind the material to 1 micron and effectively classify and separate the components by weight?

Most likely high grade refractory pyritic fine grained gold concentrates prior to cyanidation.

Would you consider electron microscope images of processed material useful in an initial determination of what subsequent processing might be necessary?

I own the material and process ~200 mt per year. currently crush/ball mill/jet mill. not sure if you want to supply a devise, or perform the processing. can you clarify pls? i'm more inclined to purchase a device

We have the milling device. Material can be milled to 1 micron but different materials have different optimum sizes. We can mill to necessary size. Perhaps we can discuss a cooperative effort to mutual advantage.

For most applications 1 micron is too fine, you'll slime the feed. Industrial minerals do go this fine though for making products for specific applications, and as said before gold leaching may benefit.

With the right media there's technologies out there that'll go down to this range, each with its advantages/disadvantages. Ultimately though, you're still stuck with physics and economics, there's no magic bullet that halves energy requirements and suddenly makes this economic.

Determining grind size is easily done by SEM, but if you're looking towards submicroscopic gold you need to consider dynamic SIMS or similar.
