Dry overflow milling (1 reply)

Hi.
can someone assist me with a few problems I have?
We have a overflow dry grinding ball mill grated discharge 2.4m x 1.5m, we use 40mm,25mm and 17mm ball sizes (high chrome steel) to mill manganese with a top size of 4800um, mill liners are steel. The mill runs with two motors and gearboxes on a vfd drive and a hydrodynamic bearing running at 60% critical speed. We are milling down to 38um. Output is 2,5t/h is that a reasonable output for mill size? moisture on feed is between 2.5 and 4%. The problem I have is that mill amps drop down and then mill gets quiet as if it is overfilled and we then get a lot of reject material from air classifier. Can the problem be the moisture in mill or a low ball charge?
