Hello every one. What is the best way to measuring the dry solid density of grinded iron ore? And what happen when the percent of solid in a ball mill is too high? For example 88%

While it may seem difficult, you determine the density of the solids the same way you do for larger particles.  Since density is mass/volume you take a measured mass and then determine its volume.  Take a container of known volume, weigh the container and record the weight (Tare weight),put the powder in the container and weigh the container.  Subtracting the tare from this weight gives you the powder weight or mass.  BTW the powder should not fill the container.  Noe take a known volume of liquid that you have the density of and that will not dissolve the powder.  Slowly add the liquid to the powder until you fill the known volume container. Determine the volume of liquid that you have left and subtract it from the original volume.  The result (original volume - remaining volume) is the volume you added to the container containing the solids.  Subtract this from the container holding the powder and the result is the volume of powder minus voids.  Devide the weight of the powder in the container by the volume you just got and you have the density.
