What the correlation between throughput and grind size, throughput and power utilize, throughput and ore characteristic (WiBM), grind size and recovery Cu lost on tail?

Thank you

Liberation is the answer, you grind the ore to whatever size it takes to get liberation, the good stuff liberated form the bad stuff, then you can get optimum recovery. It is really a pretty simple concept, now how you do that is another question.

The exact correlation depends on the ore being processed. There is much variation in grinding sensitivity between ores and grinding technology, e.g., the following are general relationships:

  • throughput increases as grind size increases,
  • throughput increases with increase in power draw,
  • throughput decreases as WIBM increases, and
  • recovery decreases as grind size increases.

Hi AR - Max and Bob have summarized it very well.  In terms of optimization you need to relate metal production to metal recovery, throughput, and head grade, where metal recovery is a function of grind, and grind is a function of throughput.  This is all done in a fairly simple cost model, i.e. higher throughput usually means higher power consumption and higher reagent consumption, although a lot of your other costs, e.g. labor, are fixed.  I live permanently in Jakarta Selatan, and I see you are based in Bogor.  If you want to contact me through the e-mail address in my 911 profile, I can help you work through a specific example.  Istri saya orang Indonesia, dan saya bisa bicara bahasa Indonesia - Trims - Andrew
