I am from Iran and I am student in mineral processing. I can't understand these sentences about Hydrocyclone pressure drop at overflow. can you explain me easier? thank you so much

Should the overflow be discharged against a positive head, some of the fluid which normally reports to the overflow is forced to report to the underflow. This does not have a major effect on classification but does increase the amount of bypass solids and reduces underflow density.

Does increase the amount of fines that should have gone to the overflow and now are forced to the underflow. this reduces underflow density %solids.

Air enters through the bottom discharge cone of cyclone and exits through the overflow. The air core is important to cyclone operation. Keep the overflow short and make sure it discharges to air, not submerged.

I sent this topic to a friend who's running a 20" cyclone with a 7.5" Vortex pushing into an 8" diameter overflow pipe. He is doing a similar assesment and look at his by-pass.
