Hi everybody

I work in a iron ore beneficiation plant in Iran. in this plant the feed size is less than 10 mm which first enter to the HPGR (in open circuit) and its product size is less than 6 mm which goes to the open circuit ball mill.

my question is: if we decrease the feed size from 10 mm to about 1 mm, is it possible to modify HPGR parameter for new feed (size less than 1 mm)? if yes:

1- what is the product size which we expect?

2- what is the changes which we must do on the HPGR?

Best Regards

Mokhtar

Hi Mokhtar

HPGR won't be efficient at a 1 mm feed size.  Particles that small should go directly to a ball mill.

In any classical comminution circuit, the purpose of an HPGR is to make feed for a ball mill.  Once you are at the size range to feed a ball mill, just do that.

Dear alex

Thanx for your reply.

I underestand what you meen. But the problem is

1. I want to do dry cobbing before entering the plant.

2. I have this hpgr and i want to do the best with it.

Regarding above mention, Do you think it is not better to use hpgr even for soze teduction to 500 micron. Or atleat for producing the crack and reducing the work index?

Thanks for your help

Dear sir
in the ball mill, the ball must see the particles to grind it, if the ball in big and the particle is small, the ball didn't find the particle ... if the particle is big and the ball is small it may be crush it but didn't grind the particle so the particle size distribution is wide ... you, As I see, you want to reach narrow distribution as you can so you have to apply the design equations to compute the suitable ball size with the feed to gain the required particle size of the ore ... best regards

thanks for your reply. I understand what you mean but my problem is using hpgr for grinding particle less than 3 mm as the feed of ball mill. if it is usfull, I can xhange the size of the ball as you explained.
