I need to understand how do I use the selection, breakage and appearance function equations in predicting the particle size distribution in the mill discharge given the ore characteristics and mill feed particle size distribution? I need to understand it using an actual example with numbers.

A friend familiar (SAGMilling.com) with breakage and appearance function equations tells me you need to take either a JK SimMet course or a Molycop Tools course to be able to do that. The models are very complex and have iterative natures.

The earliest examples of such models were published by Austin and you'll find his stuff from the 1980s published on http://www.onemine.org These models because they are painful to run and require a lot of matrix algebra.
