How does less steel balls in a ball mill affect cyclone pressure

Decreasing the balls in a ball mill will have the tendenacy to increase the average size of the mill product.  While this will have no direct affect on the cyclone pressure, a coarser feed will impact the separation of the cyclone. In general amking it coarser also.  One way to bring this back into desired range is to adjust the feed pressure, either by speeding up the pumps or shutting off some cyclones (assuming you have a bank of cyclones).  This can help sharpen the separation, but the amount of oversize will still increase, but the amount of fines in the underflow will decrease.

Note, this is generally called a poor trade off as the net energy use will increaase (faster pump, more energy) (coarser grind, more recycle, also more energy).
