my problem is we don't have tailing and concentrate at same time , we feed solid gold to the leach tank , i can calculate how much gold i have leached , this does not include the amount of gold lose in solution form . now i am using this formula (total gold to tail= solid gold +solution gold) once i found the total gold, i converted it to gram/ton (total tail gold/total milled ore per day. finally my recovery becomes 100*(gold in feed g/ton-gold in tail g/ton)/(mill feed gold gram/ton)
this recovery may express the amount of leached gold adsorbed by carbon.
if may formula is correct what about total gold recovery up to smelting

Hi,

There is a balance to estimate the gold dissolution in the leaching circuit. If anyone wants to estimated the gold recovery in the smelting circuit, it should performed other balance exclusively for the smelting circuit.

The only way to estimate the overall gold recovery is perform all the metallurgical processes in the same plant and consecutively. The final gold recovery will not be 100%. Don't forget that activated carbon desorption is not perfect, the same concept is valid for electrowinning.

thanks fraser
is my formula fine to be used to calculate the total leaching recovery leaching recovery.

I think is ok, it is possible to use the gold grade reported in the tailings and the gold feed grade.

Sometimes it is easier to explain concepts thru' a worked problem...let me know if the appended example makes sense in attempting to answer your query.
