Good day  All

Could anyone help me to understand why leach tanks agitators break/snap off at the flanges where the agitator is bolt on. In some cases the bolts broke off or the agitator snap at the part of the flange of the agitator.

There are several points to consider,

  • Metal fatigue
  • Bolts diameter are not appropriate
  • Slurry density was not considered in the design
  • rpm were not studied properly
  • Excessive torque
  • Impeller and tank diameter are not in the right ratio

You should talk to the tank designer to find out what parameters were considered to size the tanks. This is your starting point.

Jorge, thank you very much. We will definitely look into the above points
