what can be the possible methods for removing sulfur from molybdenum trioxide? if its content is higher than the desired value for producing ferro-molybdenum.

Presumably sulfur is there as MoS2, FeS2 or CuFeS2. Only two options are roast it or oxidation leach.

thanks mike ,

roasting or leaching which will be more effective? is it possible to remove during production of ferro-molybdenum itself?

I agree with Mike, an oxidative roast or an oxidative leach.  You might try H2O2 as an oxidant as it doesn't contribute any additional off gas other than oxidizing the sulfur

THANKS RICHARD,
we can try this at lab scale.
we are producing ferro-moly via aluminothermic reduction process. any other reagent to use directly during production of ferro-molybdenum for removing same.!?

No practical remove during ferromoly. It is like lighting a bomb, gas release but no phase sep'n.

Hydro and roast each have their economies of scale. I would think that a batch ferric chloride leach "Brenda Mines" might be your most economic choice. Roasting can be difficult to permit and expensive due to gas scrubbing and handling.

can you please elaborate  more on Brenda Mines?
