Hi, I am having difficulties figuring out how to separate fine loaded carbon from sands. What best mechanism can i employ?

Possibly cycloning, or a method that plays on the differences in specific gravity (ie., probably +/-2.65 for silica particles, much much lower for carbon (activated, coconut shell carbon).

use shaking table since sg of sand is higher than that of carbon
