THE BEST METHOD OF TREATING GOLD BEARING TAILINGS THAT HAVE MUCH COPPER OR SILVER CONTENT (1 reply and 2 comments)

I have stockpiled several thousand tons of TAILINGS in my former Mining Site, which have Very much content of Copper (>10,000 ppm). Silver and Sulphur are there as well though not at an alarming quantity as that of Copper (Silver ~4000ppm, Sulphur~2000ppm).

Gold content is in the range of 5 -7 ppm. These tailings are unsaleable since most buyers are afraid that they will consume a lot of Sodium Cyanide during Leaching thus deeming them un-economical to Leach. I however decided to collect them cause my intuition tells me that there is or there will be a Technic sometime/somewhere that will make recovering gold from these taillings economical.

From the above information, I would like to know the best method(S) of treating such tailings economically since Leaching with sodium cyanide has not worked well with me.

Thanks.

we both have the same problem, but right now, i was trying to find way to get rid of the copper before conducting cyanidation. The result of my experiment got 30% cyanide consumption reduce, but i still conducting trial and error to obtain the maximum percentage to reduce the cyanide consumption.

You may e-mail me for some information about it, may be we can shared some ideas to solve this kind of problem.

If you are talking about a 1% copper content in the tailings, if the product is sulfide copper, I think it would be easy to float and you can make a copper gold con that would be saleable.

Oxide or sulfide can also be float. Froth floatation is also a option for this kind of ore. But it is necessary to do a pilot test for every kind of tailing you've process. You can also try to leach the tailing with dilute sulfuric acid if floation is not well working.
