Is it possible to recover a flocculant in a slurry after water separation?

Hi Tsaone,

I am afraid I must give a no to this question.

Normally the flocculent is used up and taken out of the liquid/solid slurry during separation by the solids that you used the flocculent to floc.  It is a consumable and a delicate thing in that it can be made less useful even by over agitation during mixing and our rule of thumb is that it must be remade every three days to insure no degradation.

Cheers,

Wayne

Flocculants are long strand chemicals any mixing of them breaks the strands so they loose their flocculating ability very rapidly and as Wayne says need to be used as soon as possible after mixing.

thank you guys.

but since you guys says flocculants breaks and lose structure, what about polyampholytes? because many of the have have self healing feature and high tensile strength. Or the forces when mixing are too high for polyampholytes to recover from the forces they experince?
