Hello , Seeking solution for removal of micron size free iron particles from micronized limestone & china clay powder through dry processing.

Micronized limestone and china clay powder is having 0.2 to 0.5 % free Iron and requirement is =< 0.05 % Free iron in final product .

Equipment which can reduce the free iron particles through dry processing .

I tried with roller magnets and it is working well with coarse particles  , not with micronized as lot of powder got stick with the roller magnet belt conveyor and that results in coating formation on the belt . Even after clearing the coating lot of good material is also getting wasted and results are not achieved ( i.e Free iron content =< 0.05 %).

Pls. suggest .....

Try adding low amplitude dither vibrations at about 400 Hertz or cycles per second to the powder mixture where the magnet acts on it.

It should help to avoid clogging the china clay. Attach an electromagnet with some electronic cards to generate vibration, preferably adjustable amplitude and frequency to optimise manually.

Thanks Akhil , I think I should try this . Can you suggest any specific supplier for the same .

Yes Robert , I have taken trial with this type of magnets but not of M/s Eriez . Actually after a few second a layer of fine particles form over the magnets and because of that micronized iron particles move along with the product . This type of magnets are very effective with coarse iron particles .

I've used with very fine particles of iron. However, functionality depends on the content of iron particles. Do you know iron content (% or count/mass) of your stream?

micronized calcined china clay is having 0.5 % of free iron which use to come due to abrasion inside the MS pipe lines , ducts , cooler etc .
