In any magnetic separator there is some gap maintained in between two matrix plates likewise 1 to 1.5 mm. Feed in the form of slurry is introduced on the matrix plates. Feed slurry comprises of range of particles ( 45 micron to 150 micron). My question is when feed is introduced larger or smaller, which particle will be attracted towards plates first.

what is the best flow sheet design for operation of WHIMS, either in single stage or in two stage ( rougher -  cleaner combination). What will be the maximum and minimum size of particle which can be captured by WHIMS/ HGMS.

What is the difference between Back ground Intensity and Induced Intensity in WHIMS/HGMS. How we will measure both.

It is important to perform a testing program to evaluate the metallurgy performance of the ore using one or two magnetic concentration equipment, and to evaluate the effect of some parameters such particle size (e.g. 200 mesh or 400 mesh). The process plant could be a conventional magnetite recovery plant that will produce a magnetite concentrate. Magnetite rougher concentrate will be reground in the magnetite regrind circuit prior to cleaning. The magnetite cleaner stages will operate as open circuits, with each tailings stream reporting to the magnetite cleaner tailings. Tailings from the magnetite cleaner circuit will report to the tailings thickener for dewatering prior to disposal. The final magnetite concentrate will be sent to thickening and filtration circuits.
