Greetings:

I would appreciate your help in identifying a processing and a purifying replacement substance to Mercury in gold mining. I am interested in presenting a less pollutant substance to Mercury that can be obtained in commercial quantities for gold mining in Sudan. Your help is appreciated.

Hello Basel and welcome.

Is this for a new or existing, already operating plan?  Can you tell me more about your situation? Are you looking just for a new chemical or a chemical-free method?

Thank you David. These are existing government and semi-government mines that have been in operation for few years now. We are looking to introduce a chemical replacement substance to replace Mercury as an agent used in the process of purifying gold. The new substance needs to be commercially available in large quantities that can be exported to Port Sudan, Sudan.

Well, I personally do know know of such chemical.  Modern fine gold recovery methods use as a test to determine recovery https://www.911metallurgist.com/blog/gravity-recoverable-gold-grg-test and as a machine https://www.911metallurgist.com/blog/gold-recovery-with-centrifugal-gravity-concentrator

You may want to watch this 'no mercury' gold recovery video https://www.911metallurgist.com/blog/mercury-free-gravity-borax-method-gbm and promote that all you see here in Sudan.

Until somebody else more knowledgeable comes in, this is all I have for you Basel.

There is no substitute as such - if borax was a real option, everyone would be using it.  If for final recovery and cleaning, mercury is fine.  It can be controlled.  The issues with mercury are with uncontrolled artisanal use and 'scattering' in 'land dredging' to achieve better recovery.
