Hi,

We operate a tin mining operation in central Nigeria that is an alluvial deposit. The ore sand comes with a lot of boulders. Initially we were using a grizzly but this has led to a lot of plant idle time getting because of the time it takes to pass one trip through the sand. we engaged on a process optimization via a consultant and he recommended we replace the grizzly was replaced with a jaw crusher and a cone crusher before being fed to the trommel scrubber. However after the trommel, the consultant has added a spiral classifier before the pumps to send to the Jigs. She says this will make the operation of the Jig more effective. I would appreciate views/opinions on this design. The new plant process is Hopper - Vibrating Screen - Jaw Crusher - Vibrating screen - cone crusher - Trommel Scrubber - Spiral Classifier - Tanks - Slurry Pumps - Jigs - Wet Tables - wet magnetic separator - rotary dryer. I have not seen a spiral classifier being used in tin ore processing before.

Thanks

The purpose of the spiral classifier is to remove ultra-fine material (commonly called slimes) that can lead to poor performance in the jigs.  This is helpful if you have a high clay content in plant feed.

The slimes can artificially raise the separating gravity in the jig and on the tables causing a lot of misplaced material.

If your process generates a lot of Slimes then look to use a Multi Gravity Separator.

Thank you. Had a look at your website. Can you give me an idea how much a multi gravity separator tat can handle 10TPH costs
