Hello, I would like to recover Lead from used fire assay cupels.  Does anyone have a procedure that I can use?  Thanks!

You can consider a leaching process. The main steps are below,

Crush the cupels at three sizes, 70, 80 and 90% passing 200 mesh

Acetic acid is used to leach the lead. Evaluate the dosage (e.g. 25, 50, 100, 150 g/l)

Percent solids, 15, 20 and 25% w/w

Take samples at different times to determine the optimum leaching time (e.g.  1, 2 4, 6 hours)

Repeat the optimum test conditions. The pregnant solution is treated with aluminum powder to precipitate lead.

Other option is get lead oxide. In this case the pregnant solution is treated with ammonium hydroxide
