I would like some help with impact Crushers.I have just purchased a quarry in South Australia  and the stone is a meta silt stone with LA value of 16 -22.The quarry has a Metso LT 1213 S as a primary and secondary crusher producing Concrete Aggregates.I am concerned of the amount of work this machine is doing .Feed size is between 200mm and 400 mm .If i put  a jaw as my primary  and reduce feed size to a constant 150 -200 mm will this make my operation more productive and save on maintenance costs of the Impactor.

Usually, A jaw crusher is generally used as a primary crusher in a crushing circuit. the PE type jaw crushers feeding size is 125-1500mm, which is suitable for coarse, medium and fine crushing of various ores and rocks with compression strength not more than 147~245 Mpa.

Impact crusher main are used in secondary crushing,  due to its uniquely structural design, which the finished products are cube, no tension and crack, good grain shape, which can handle various coarse, medium an fine ores and rocks whose granularity is not more than 120-500 mm and compressive strength is not over 320 Mpa.

Base on the experience in heavy machine field, we suggest you can arrange a jaw crusher to make the quarry into small size, because the suitable size materials can let the impact crusher working high efficient, at the same time, can get fine size end products in one time, no need crush once again, then the maintenance costs of impact crusher will become lower.
