Primary Gyratory Crusher Maintenance (2 replies and 1 comment)

Hello everyone.

My questions are regarding to maintenance of the primary gyratory crushers.

Does anybody know any kind of sensor to monitoring head spin of the main shaft of the primary gyratory crusher?

During the measurement of the spider bushing clearance, I need to remove the spider cap and then check clearance using a feeler gauge. (Please the picture attached).

It takes me more than 2 hours to do that. I would like to know if anybody knows any device or another method to control the spider bushing clearance without the removal of the spider cap.

Hello Eder,

We did not automatically measure the bush clearance, only the grease level in the cap and speed. I remember we used the inlet and return oil temperature and the difference between the two as indicators of the bush status. The differencial temperature increased under load and an high warning point was set to indicate bad bush condition. Otherwise than that we limited the empty run time in order to prevent head spin.

Czambrano,
We consider 20 minutes the empty run time , then we shutdown the crusher.
In our 60" x 89" primary gyratory crusher the spider bushing lubrication system was supplied for the use of grease.
What kind of lubricant do you apply on the spider bushing? I understood that you use oil. Right?
According to your experience, what kind of lubricant is more suitable for spider bushing? Oil or grease?

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Eder,

We have used grease for the cap and this grease was pumped by pulses as long as the level indicator was not showing high. One issue was that one time this sensor got damaged and we had to pump the grease manually until the next maintenance. I had not experience with oil,
