Hello, I want to float carbon black. I did a preliminary test:

  • Solid content: 20% carbon black and 80% water
  • pH: 3 adjust with NaOH at pH =7
  • Collector: diesel 0.2 kg/t
  • Foaming: aerofroth 0.2 kg/t.

Result : No foam.

Can you please guide me on flotation conditions? Should I increase my collector quantity?

What was your float cell design (dimensions)?

What was your agitator and rotation speed?

How were you adding the air (self aspirated or forced)?

SmartDog,
The system is a DENVER D12 LABORATORY FLOTATION MACHINE.
We performed the test with a 1L cell.
We have the following equipment. https://www.911metallurgist.com/equipment/denver-d12-laboratory-flotation-machine/

The rotation speed was approximatively 700rpm. You can see the agitator on the picture in website link.

We injected air.
