Need to float Cobalt from a Cobalt/pyrite slurry which has too much lime in it. what is the best acid to use for that? any specific methods suggested?

I need to obtain 100 Kg of Cobalt concentrate

The selection of the best treatment method for a particular mineral depends largely, among key factors, on the knowledge of:

-the geology of the deposit,

-the mineralogy of the ore

-and the distribution of the mineral in the ore.

Try to collect

  • the above information for your solids in the slurry (including the mineralogical composition)
  • the elemental analysis (chemical composition) of the solids
  • the size distribution of the solids of the slurry
  • the percentage (%) of solids in the slurry
  • the pH of the slurry
  • the flow of the slurry
  • the temperature of the slurry

This step will help you to narrow the spectrum of flotation reagents and conditions.

Then you need to conduct testing of your sample. It is only by testing that you can really conclude on the validity of your options of recovery from mineral bearing ore.
