Cyclone underflow classification of gravity concentrator feed (3 replies)

We have 2 discharge pipes from the cyclone underflow. 1 is a smaller diameter pipe going to gravity/scalping screens which then classify the product. Oversize from these screens report to mill discharge hopper. Undersize reports to gravity concentrators. A larger (separate) pipe carries the bulk of the cyclone underflow to the mill feedhead chute. for regrind. Some of this product from the larger diameter pipe may be suitable for gravity concentrators

My question is: Would it be advantageous to have a screen (or double deck screen) receiving ALL of the cyclone underflow? Undersize product from the screen deck/s would report directly to gravity concentrators. Oversize would report to the mill feed end.

Has anyone got or seen this type of set-up?

You may exceed the rated capacity of your gravity concentrator. I do not believe you will gain much, if anything.

Do you have a gold assay of your cyclone overflow & underflow? What is your current gold recovery by gravity VS the tested GRG values?

I'd be interested in this. Do you have answers to Paul's query?

We had a setup in one of our gold plants, where complete cyclone underflow goes to a 1 mm screen, the screen underflow goes to the concentrator, while screen overflow is pumped back to the ball mill. The flow to the screen was controlled by automatic valves.

For changing your flow sheet, look at the capacities of the screen/scalper.

As you mentioned, there would be a substantial part of material in underflow could be treated in gravity concentrators.
