Dear All 

I want to remove mica fram a +63-315µm sand. 

If possible I would like to do it without flottation, is it possible to do it with hydroclassifier (counter-current washer like floatex, hydrosizer or lavodune) ? 

Or with spiral  classifier ? 

Something else ? 

I know that this can be done by flotation. What kind of reagent should I use ?

as general

very simple to remove (mica) by gravity separation devises.

Hi Romain What are the SG's of the materials you are trying to separate? Roughly the SG of Mica is 2.8 to 3.0. Is the sand heavier or lighter ? I suspect that they are quite close so you might need to use some form of enhanced gravity device such as the Multi Gravity Separator (MGS) to highlight the SG differential.

The SG is almost the same for the 2 minerals, 2.65 for sand and 2.7 to 3 for mica. I think the difference is too low for gravity method.

If this is dry already, have you considered electrostatic separation?

Hello David

Sorry, I was not clear enough. This is wet. A fellow engineer made some test in the past with wet magnetic separator and the results was poor. Also I worry about cost of these equipment. The product on which I would like to remove mica is only a by-product.
