Why cement grinding ball mill is floating towards the Gear box (MAAG) which has resulted the damage of the second stage of gear box. As we have replaced the gear box now but still we are unable to find out the solution how to control the mill which is continue its floating towards gear box. Any suggestions please?

This is a tough one, and you may have to get an alignment specialist and/or vibration specialist to examine the mill to really diagnose the problem.  You will have to confirm that the ball mill is "floating", as I'm not sure I've seen this before.  It is more likely that there is movement of the drive motor, gear box, coupling and/or clutch (if you have one installed) and pinion.  The proper procedure for alignment is to start at the pinion and work your way back to the motor.  Laser systems are more accurate than dial-in alignment systems, but with either system you  have to have someone involved with the right experience.  You also have to be very careful when you do your final bolt tightening, as the tightening itself may move things out of alignment.  Have one of your mechanical guys explain what "soft shoe" is.  If the problem persists you may have to check the grouting and hold-down bolts beneath the drive train as it may need to be replaced.  This is often the case for installations that are more than 10 years in service if things are moving out of alignment.  Other than that we would all be guessing.  Contact me by e-mail if you have any specific questions.

Best Regards

Dear sir,

we already have done the proper alignment by an Expert of the Gearbox as the Gearbox was newly installed & we have done alignment twice with Expert. Finally he quit that this is not an alignment issue as well as Gearbox.
He claimed that there is some problem with the mill.
we have checked the mill level also and we find it (0.7mm) higher at the inlet than outlet.
we have positioned the shoe bearings as well accordingly but still mill is floating continuously towards gearbox.
wondering.....
