Dry digestion of slags (1 reply)

Hello, I am undertaking a study on the dry digestion of high silica slags from the electric arc furnace. Does anyone have any knowledge on the impact of having a major amorphous component in the slag on the performance of dry digestion/ leaching? Or perhaps reading material? It would be greatly appreciated.

There is a typical problem when you try to leach slags using a hot process. I mean, the formation of silica gel, which increases the slurry viscosity, promotes the presence of colloidal particles, makes more problematic the filtration, and the metal extraction could not be as high as expected. The formation of silicic acid is really problematic.
