Does anyone have any papers or links on the metallurgical accounting for heap leach operations? I.e., where are sampling points (each solution flow, each lift etc), how are recoveries determined etc?

Normally heap leach operations develop their own mass/met balance in house (Excel) with the metallurgist or purchase proprietary software such as Metsim, Goldsim, etc.. The key is keeping good record of the inputs and outputs; ore tonnage, ore grade, solution flow, solution grade, acid and/or cyanide content, pH, etc.. As an example of a typical heap operating model attached is a description of the Metsim application.
