Hi, i am currently operating a vat leaching. The soil sample results was 6 ppm of Au and 8579 ppm of Cu. After running for two days the solution showed the following results: Cu 725 ppm and 2.53 ppm. The carbon samples result showed Au 544 ppm and Cu is 86100 ppm. I am using higher ppm of 3000 of NaCN but the recycling ppm is 150. There is huge drop of ppm. What can I do to rise ppm?

do some pre-treatment for your high Cu Au ore. what particular place do you live? What way you use to determine NaCN concentration?

Thank you,i am on the way to do that but can u help me to suggest best procedures, reagents and dosage for treatment?,I live Tanzania,Kahama-Kakola near bulyahnulu gold mine (acacia),one of the largest mine in Africa.

NaCN determination is by titration using silver nitrate

Hello,
Have you done the met test before on that sample?

So that you can become with the optimal Dosage before starting recovery.
Its not bad my advice is in order to control that Cu to be dissolved by CN u should use Lead Nitrate that will passivate Cu and Sulphur layer to be blind so that it cant be leached by CN, hence Au will be leached at maximum kinetics.
Secondly observe your your sample might be pre globbing which are Natural gold absorber that why Carbon absorb less ppm, also check carbon profile in your CIC if are less solution will escape, also when circulating solutions in CIC take sample before dump the solution into the barren eluate tank until u remain with less ppm around 0.001 to 0.01.
Lastly check the Carbon Activity, if its less expect that results for solutions to escape, especially fresh carbon has less Activity, and if they are used in the last batch will be already fouled by inorganic impurities , so you have to acid treat them then get regenerated .

The copper contained in the ore is very huge and normal leaching can not be used to recover gold from the ore. Use Pre-treatment methods that removes copper. I am a metallurgist and am working in one of the largest mine in Tanzania. Free free to contact me.
