Effects of over pulverizing on lab test work (2 replies)

G'day,

I've been doing some sizings from our pulverizers to attempt to find why we're getting high variation in our lab results.

2 of our pulverizers are over pulverizing creating quite hard lumps.

My concern is that this may be affecting our sulphur roasting process and therefore aqua-regia digestion.

I'd like to approach the lab manager about it but if there are any studies/documents about the effects of over pulverising or anyone has any anecdotal evidence that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If your pulverizers are the same, then you should pulverize your material at different times, and the product should be used to perform two tests, first, determine the particle size distribution, and second, acid digestion. Compare the results at different pulverizing times. In this way, you can evaluate your equipment and the lab operator
