The point is not the nice name or famous brand of manufacturers, but the pumping situation and liquids parameters in duty point. You can find and install the rotary vane pump from best producers like Viking Pump or Blackmer or MPumps. But every year or in short time you will replace the vanes & push rods & seals because of big wear if they will run in viscous & abrasive mixtures like bitumen with solids. From another side, vane pumps or other kinds of PD pumps can run 20-30 years without any problems in clean liquids. The professionals in pump business can find the best suitable pumps for each liquid and duty point.

We have brand "X" running .When we bought the pump it is rated for 500 LPM at 10 Bar. We have a 20 Micron filter element and expecting a Pr. drop. But the head developed now is only 5 Bar ( filter looks clean) - but we are not getting the rated flow. So I am looking for another brand for a new installation.

May be 20 Micron filter is too small for your viscous liquid? We have delivered Viking Pump gear pumps for to pump the paints. They worked wrong after first start -with high vibration level and vacuum in inlet side and minimum flow and pressure in discharge. The reason was the designer’s mistake - the inlet filters had too small holes. If the PD pump has not enough liquid in inlet it creates vacuum and cannot give flow and pressure in discharge. I recommended to change the filters strainers- bigger holes were better - all problems disappear. Client asked me - why pumps gives small pressure P<10 bar? Because PD pumps is not centrifugal one! It must give definite Flow with each revolution and Pmax could appear only if discharge lines will be too long (big friction loses) or if discharge valve will be closed. If Pmax=10 bar will occur relief valve must save your pump and discharge lines.
