Shows how X-ray micro- and nano-CT provide for quantitative mineral exposure/liberationhttp://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0892687512001240Hard to understand why is there apparently so little interest in this technology for other applic...

I know of a lab that has largely ignored X-ray CT scanning and 3-d liberation data because we have a huge comparative database of 2-d liberation data from SEM-based sources. For mineral concentratio...

Different heavy sand placers are mainly composed with Iimenite, Zircon, Rutile Monazite and Xenotime. On all X-rays diffraction patterns, I still have high intensity “d-spacing” 2,34 - 1,65 - 1,48. which don't correspond to the here above mineral...

No, I didn't perform Rietveld refinement. I followed an XRD specialist who wrote :"Peak height can be misleading as it can change depending on crystal shape and preferred orientation of the sample dur...

I had an interesting discussion with an applications specialist in XRD who was asked a question regarding 'amorphization' by inappropriate grinding. Their response was that this is a red herring, stating the age-old argument that peak-broadening is ...

I have seen this effect when grinding dry versus grinding with an appropriate fluid (ethanol). It falls within the 'common pitfalls and myths' learning experiences. Nice share.

I agree, knowledge first. First step would be to "know your ground", full majors elemental analysis (Na if you can, K, Mg, P, Ca, Ti, Cr, Zr, Ni). Is your reported Fe FeO and Si SiO2?Then XRD, but yo...
