1. Meadowbank

This silver and gold mine, managed by the majority owner Agnico Eagle Mines, is located 70 kilometers north of Baker Lake.

2. Ekati

Located 20 kilometers east-northeast of Lac De Gras, this diamond mine is mainly owned by Dominion Diamond Corporation.

3. Diavik

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -31.9

The mining giant Rio Tinto is in charge of this diamond pit that can be found 300 kilometers northeast of Yellowknife.

4. Snap Lake

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -30.8

This diamond mine is located 220 kilometers northeast of Yellowknife and owned by De Beers Canada Exploration.

5. Raglan

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -26.6

It’s pretty cold during the winter at this Glencore Xstrata mine that produced cobalt, copper, nickel, palladium and platinum. The pit is located 65 kilometers south of Deception Bay.

6. Minto

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -26.1

This silver, gold and copper mine managed by Capstone Mining is located 120 kilometers north of Whitehorse.

7. Thompson

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -24.9

Vale is the majority owner of this cobalt, copper and nickel mine, which can be found five kilometers south of Thompson.

8. Birchtree

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -24.8

Vale is also the owner of this nickel mine, located six kilometers southwest of Thompson.

9. Rabbit Lake

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -24.5

This uranium mine is located 800 kilometers north of Saskatoon and explored by the company Cameco.

10. McArthur River

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -24.3

Cameco is equally the manager of this uranium pit, located 80 kmkilometers northeast of Key Lake.

11. Wolverine

• Average temperature in the mine during the coldest month: -24.1

The Jinduicheng Molybdenum Group Mining owns this silver, gold, copper, lead and zinc. The pit is located 135 kilometers southeast of Ross River.

12. Elross Lake
