I am learning about various comminution tests and I was wondering how people have previously handled CWi with whole PQ core. I realize that sample size should be between 2" and 3". Should these samples always be crushed versus cut due to the diameter of the core, or is it more typical to use whole core within the specified length? Cutting the core in half first will not allow the core to be less then 3" (in diameter at least).

The Crushing Work Index (CWI) describes the competency of the ore at larger particle sizes. It is used for the calculation of the actual crusher power requirements.

How do i determine the work index of a cone crusher

Work index is related to the material, while the formula for application to different equipment varies, the basic work index is related to what is being crushed/ground.

Thanks SmartDog. I am working on sulphide ore(copper and nickel) and I need to determine the energy consumption at the crusher (cone crusher).
