Rougher/Scavenger flowsheet (1 reply)

I am looking at a flowsheet, where the Rougher bank tailings (with six mechanical) cells reports to final tailings.

Do you think there is a necessity to have a separate Scavenger bank to treat the Rougher tailings, or is six cells in the Rougher enough to account for short-circuiting and plant upsets etc?

It depends.  It depends on a lot of factors that can only be answered by test work.

Some plants have only 1 rougher, others have many more.  Some plants have rougher/scavenger circuits others do not.  Some have only a single stage of flotation.  This question cannot be answered with the information given.

What is being floated, what is the feed rate, are you making a single product (such as coal) or do you make two or more products (copper/moly)?

What size are your cells?

You question is like asking is a Ford Explorer better than a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud.  It depends what you are using it for and where.
